Wii Music Becomes Part of US School Curriculums


Wii Music, instead of being an “after your homework” activity, is now part of the classroom. H.D. Cooke Elementary School in Washington D.C. will use the video game system and music game as an incentive for kids to have fun with music. J.C. Rodrigo, a marketing support specialist at Nintendo who demonstrated the title at Cooke, said:

“This is about kids learning about how to have fun with music. It’s providing a unique experience where kids can try out different instruments and find that creative spark.”

DropPlay, a new music service launched yesterday, combines the social nature of Facebook with the free streaming YouTube policy, and throws in a suggestion service like Pandora’s to boot. The White Stripes’ Jack White has formed a new band with The Kills’ Alison Mosshart called The Dead Weather.

Youtube is blocking access to all premium music videos that were previously available to UK internet users, after failing to reach a licensing deal with the Performing Rights Society (PRS). Israeli artist Kutiman has developed a new project called ThruYou, which combines samples from a wide range of uploaded videos on Youtube, and remixes the sounds to make full compositions.
